College of Alameda – This interdisciplinary team found that to engage students we need to respect their lived experiences and provide authentic tasks. According to one member of the team, “Working with inventive instructors, and particularly those of other disciplines, revealed new ways of looking at students, teachers, and andragogy(the process of engaging adult learners with the learning experience). I learned techniques from my colleagues which I employed in my own classroom.”
